It’s been over two months since I moved to Port Douglas, and I still can’t believe how quickly time has flown past. I was rather hesitant to move up here at first, as Melbourne had grown on me over the past six months. But alas, if I wanted to extend my visa for another year, I had no choice but to head north and find regional work. Which is how I found myself in the little gem that is Port Douglas.
As comfortable as I am with my own company, I’d be lying if I said I haven’t placed a lot of energy into the romantic relationships I’ve been in over the past few years. I definitely enjoy being in relationships, but it can be easy to lose sight of myself sometimes when I spend too much time with someone else.
I still wake up some mornings and have to take a moment to acknowledge that I’m literally living on the opposite side of the planet, a long way from everything I once knew.
